Skip the Hassle of Traditional Braces with Invisalign

Invisalign® is an advanced orthodontic system that straightens your teeth comfortably and discreetly. Using a series of clear, plastic aligners, Invisalign gently guides your teeth into the desired location without the hassle of traditional braces. Drs. Brian Riel and Todd Martin at Bluegrass Dental provide all types of Invisalign for patients in the Murfreesboro, TN, area, including Teen and Express.

The Invisalign Advantage

One of the main benefits of treatment with Invisalign is that the clear aligners allow you to live your life the way you want without major interruptions. Metal brackets often cause discomfort by rubbing against the soft tissues inside of your mouth. In contrast, Invisalign trays are made of smooth plastic that is comfortable to wear, fitting snugly against your teeth without the risk of cuts and irritation. As a bonus, the clear plastic allows the trays to remain virtually invisible against your smile.

Invisalign offers a much better chance of healthy, beautiful teeth after treatment is complete.

Because patients can remove their Invisalign trays when they eat, brush, and floss, there are no food restrictions with this treatment. This removability also allows you to better care for your teeth. With metal braces, plaque and bacteria can often build up around the brackets, causing discoloration or oral health issues. Invisalign offers a much better chance of healthy, beautiful teeth after treatment is complete.

In addition to improving the aesthetics, correcting the alignment of your smile can prevent more extensive oral health issues in the future and make maintaining your oral health easier.

Explore Your Candidacy

With Invisalign, Dr. Riel and Martin can treat many of the same conditions as traditional braces, including:

  • Rotated teeth
  • Overcrowding
  • Gaps
  • Crossbites
  • Underbites
  • Overbites
  • Open bites

Most minor to moderate misalignments will respond to Invisalign. However, if you have a more severe issue, you may find better results with traditional orthodontics. Dr. Riel or Martin can assess your candidacy for Invisalign during your initial consultation.

Your Treatment with Invisalign

At your first appointment, we will take panoramic x-rays of your smile. The doctor can then perform an oral evaluation. If he determines that Invisalign is a suitable option, he can then explain the treatment process to you and give you an estimate of how long it will take. At this point, we will take impression of your teeth and map out a precise treatment plan.

Over the next few months, you will wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day, removing them only to eat, brush, or floss. Every two weeks or so, you will exchange your aligners for the next set in the series. You will also need to attend periodic follow-up appointments at our office every six weeks so that the doctors can check up on your progress. Although the average treatment lasts about a year to a year and a half, the exact length of your treatment will depend on the severity of your misalignment and how diligent you are about wearing your aligners.
